Where it shines
Inheritances with several siblings, community-of-owners conflicts and shareholder disputes: relationships that must continue after the fight. Courts end cases; mediation can preserve the relationship.
Cost and speed
Sessions are counted in hundreds of euros and weeks, against court costs counted in thousands and years. Even failed mediation narrows the issues for a later trial.
Arbitration for contracts
Some business contracts bind you to arbitration instead of court: faster and private, with limited appeal. Read those clauses before signing, not after the dispute.
